Temporary exhibitions

The Interpretation Centre permanent exhibition is complemented by Temporary Exhibitions inside its facilities, whose objective is to make local master craftsmen known. They keep the traditional pottery of the area alive with their hands and/or they design new methods for a more environmentally-friendly artistic creation.

Homage to Romany People: “Between Caves and Wagons”

I am currently studying a doctorate in Social Sciences, a branch of social anthropology. My research work is related to the anthropological demography of Gypsy people in XVIII and XIX centuries. Therefore, knowing that April 8 is the International Gypsies’ Day, there is a need for a homage in Guadix.

Setting a precedent is intended with this homage, so that we will remember Romany community, one of the most punished groups by social exclusion, in the years to come. We should raise awareness and become aware to achieve the inclusion and live in a more equitable society.

April 8 is just one day per year, but nothing will have been achieved if groups who work to make progress in their social inclusion do not make their own contribution every day to avoid discriminations, prejudices and negative value judgements in the rest of the year.
