Temporary exhibitions

The Interpretation Centre permanent exhibition is complemented by Temporary Exhibitions inside its facilities, whose objective is to make local master craftsmen known. They keep the traditional pottery of the area alive with their hands and/or they design new methods for a more environmentally-friendly artistic creation.

Creative pottery

Jesús Herrera. He is the grandson and son of potters, who taught him this profession, with a family tradition of over 200 years in the handmade production of artistic pottery and building materials. Jesús Herrera graduated in Applied Arts, specialty in Artistic Pottery, and he teaches Pottery in Occupational Workshops in the Nuestra Sra. De la Esperanza Educational School in Guadix.

In his free time, he enjoys moulding traditional ceramic pieces with the clay of the Guadix hills, giving them a personal touch. Starting a new task, seeing the result, relaxing, forgetting the daily life, experimenting with techniques never used before, innovating and transforming traditional aspects into a colour eruption are his greatest hobbies.

Creative pottery is a sample of ceramic pieces inspired by the Nasrid pottery tradition as well as Guadix traditional pottery, with a personal touch. Many pieces are exhibited here such us: several samples of Glasses of the Alhambra (Granada), Murals inspired by the Alhambra plastering, several samples of traditional Guadix Pitchers decorated with pictures of the Monumental City of Guadix and Caves and Plates in dry rope with landscape and flower decoration, among others.
